One good turn, as they say, deserves another. Probably, we can say one bad turn also deserves another.
The latter scenario appears to be what is playing out between the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, who is representing Agege Constituency 1 in the Assembly, and the immediate past commissioner for Transport in Lagos State, Hon. Kayode Opeifa.
Flashback to less than two months ago, when Obasa was jostling to be the Speaker of the Assembly.
Then, Kayode Opeifa, who is from Agege Area of the state was reportedly uncomfortable with Obasa’s ascension of the Speakership position as he was allegedly afraid that this could place Obasa above him politically in Agege area.
According to our source, “Opeifa did all he could do to ensure that Obasa would not get to the exalted office. He failed to give him the needed support and this nearly cost Obasa the coveted office save for the grace of God and luck that eventually gave him victory amongst about six others, who were eyeing the position.”
Now, it is pay back time as we learned that Speaker Obasa is blocking Opeifa’s planned second coming into the cabinet of the Lagos State Government as Commissioner.
Our reliable source informed us that the Speaker is not giving Opeifa the needed support he needs to scale through and get the nod of the leadership of the party to get the slot of Agege in the cabinet of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.
We were told that Speaker Obasa is not giving a listening ear to the emissary of Kayode Opeifa on the matter and that the latter has not summoned enough courage to face the Speaker as he fears what could become a big embarrassment.
