First Bank Nigeria

The Aligbe family of Idumuje Ugboko in Aniocha North Local Government of Delta State is well known in the state. But many are oblivious that there are many contradictions and mirage about the family. Our reporter dug deep into the Aligbe family background and found out that all that glitters in the family are actually not gold……..

Mr Chris Azu Aligbe is the most prominent among the Aligbe family owing to his job as the Public Relations Manager of the defunct Nigeria Airways. He has since delved into aviation consultancy, speaking on myriads if issues affecting the aviation sector in Nigeria. He is the owner of Belujane Konzult Ltd, Corporate Affairs and Aviation Consultant, located in lkeja Lagos. He lives in Ajao estate, Isolo, Lagos state.
Chris Aligbe was married to an Edo woman who bore him five children (four daughters and a son), but unfortunately lost two daughters to sickle cell anaemia while his wife also died of diabetic related illness. We learnt that Chris later got married to a Calabar lady who was his wife best friend. Source claim that he was already having an affair with the woman before his wife died and the wife got wind of the romance with her best friend and got depressed. After the woman’s death, the aviation consultant wasted no time to put his erstwhile secret lover in his home and married her. The woman is yet to be blessed with the fruit of the womb.
Mr Uchenna Aligbe is elder brother of Mr Chris Azu Aligbe. He lives in Ajao estate Isolo Lagos state, close to his younger brother, Chris. Uchenna is married to an Idumuje Ugboko lady who bore him five children (three daughters and two sons). His first son and one his daughter are married. The son is married to Nwaokolo family in Ogbe-Obi quarter in Idumuje Ugboko, while the daughter is married to Odenigbo family somewhere in eastern part of Nigeria. His second son lives in London and the two daughters live with him in Lagos.
Mr Chuka Aligbe is the younger brother to one Mr Ikpeoyi Aligbe. Chuka Aligbe spent his youthful days in neighboring country, Cameroon where he had three sons with a Cameroonian lady before his sudden return to Idumuje Ugboko. Sources claim he was actually summoned home by his elder brother to be rehabilitated. Few months after his return, he was able to build a mud house with the help of family and friends and got married to lady from Ogbe-Obi quarters in the same village. The woman bore him three children (Eugene Onyeabo Aligbe, Ngozi and Ezinne Aligbe).
Eugene Onyeabo Aligbe was born into the Aligbes family 11April 1977. He attended Nkeze Primary School and Comprehensive College Idumuje Ugboko before leaving for Lagos state to live with his uncle, Chris Azu Aligbe. Some months later, he gained admission into Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma Edo state where he studied Public Administration and graduated year 2005. After his National Youth Service in year 2006, he started working at his uncle’s company: Belujane Konzult Ltd, Corporate Affairs and Aviation Consultant in lkeja, Lagos state. While in the village, he was in a serious relationship with Stella, Edemodu Odogwu’s daughter, but Odogwu and his wife never supported the relationship because they never liked the Aligbes. But after much pressures and pleas from elders, they gave their consent. Eugene and Stella got married 11April 2009 and are blessed with two children (son and daughter). Eugene lives in a rented apartment with his family in Ayinde Gidado,Unity estate, Egbeda Idumu, an outskirt of Lagos state. Though he works for his uncle, Eugene who is said to be arrogant and full of pride struggles to survive as salaries are never paid promptly. Sadly he lost his mother last year August.
For his sisters (Ngozi and Ezinne); Ngozi’s case is nothing to write home about. After her Nrdinary National diploma (OND) in Auchi Polytechnic, she relocated to Lagos and began to hustle. She eventually gave birth to a baby boy two years ago for a Calabar man out of wedlock. Ezinne Aligbe’s matter is pathetic as she did not complete her secondary school education before she got impregnated by Idumuje Unor (neighboring village) man. But as tradition demands, she moved in with the man and ended up bearing him five children before he married her last year. She currently lives in Idumuje Unor village with her husband where they engage in small time farming to survive.
