Sen. Ahmad Sani Yarima (aka Yerima) shone on Wednesday 25th November when he was the special guest of honour at an interactive lunch with journalists. He was accompanied to the event by some of his close friends and associates like Sen. Tijani Kaura, Sen. Kabiru Marafa, Hon. Hussein Mariki,, Speaker, Zamfara State House of Assembly and many others.
Tagged ‘Lunch with Yerima’, the event was an opportunity for the senator representing Zamfara West senatorial district to have a long overdue chat with the media, especially as it concerns his new role as the Chairman Senate Committee on Marine Transport and life generally.
Yerima who was all smiles responded to questions in a very calm and relaxed way and he remained his unruffled self even when tough questions were put at him concerning his marriage to a teenage girl years ago. He simply answered and said some things happen in life that you cannot change because they have been destined to happen.
The lunch which took place at the Reach Hall, 805 Restaurant, Abuja was a very glamorous event. The oriental decoration of the hall, coupled with the soul music softly being played in the background gave it a feeling of splendor.
At the event was one of Sen. Yarima’s wives, Dr. Karima Yarima who is a reproductive health medical practitioner. She was also the First Lady of Zamfara State when her husband was Governor.
Journalists who had always thought that all there was to Ahmad Sani Yarima was Sharia Law were surprised to know that he is not only a graduate of Economics who has his Masters degree in the same field, they found out about his stint at the CBN and always his deep knowledge about the sciences, arts, international politics and vast knowledge about everything.
A mini documentary on Yerima was shown to the guests and thorough it, they saw more of his knowledge about life, they found out that majority of Yarima’s close friends are actually Christians and people from different parts of Nigeria. He is much loved by all those who have come into contact with him.
The pinnacle of the lunch came during the question and answer session and the hall was alive with laughter as Yarima’s sense of humour came to the fore.
Lunch was a three-course meal that started with mutton soup and followed by a buffet carefully selected with some of the best intercontinental dishes. It was sumptuous, though alcohol was not allowed due to Yarima’s aversion to that.
The event was put together by Alhaja Adeola Agoro who has worked closely with Sen. Ahmad Sani Yarima since he was the Governor of Zamfara State.
Dr. Karima Yarima gave the closing remarks and she waoh-ed journalists with her diction and wits.
