A major crisis of confidence has ensued in the Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), over the planned removal of the party state Secretary, Major Raphael Towobola (rtd), by a faction allegedly loyal to one of three aspirants on the platform of the party.

However, investigation by YemojaNews yesterday revealed that separate meetings had been scheduled for the party secretariat yesterday to consider a motion for the removal of the secretary.

Also, one of the meetings would be organised by the state working committee to be followed by another one by the Expanded Executive Committee; both meetings are constitutional steps required to remove a high level officer like the secretary.

Investigation further revealed that the first practical step towards achieving the secretary’s removal started at the weekend with the collection of signatures from his ward in Ife Central Local Government Area, calling for his removal.

The meeting was followed by that of the Osun East Senatorial district, which was held at Osu yesterday. The reports of the two meetings will be tabled at today’s meeting.

Today’s meeting may, however, be stormy because the state chairman who is allegedly leading the onslaught for the secretary’s removal may receive a shocker with confrontation on allegations of wrong doing and a motion of no confidence being moved against him.

The state chairman is alleged to be in league with an aspirant who sees the secretary as a stumbling block towards a plot to install the aspirant in the party’s primaries slated for April 5.

The counter move against the chairman is being spearheaded by a group of chairmen and state officers who are vehemently opposed to the manipulation of the primaries.

They want the state executive committee to remain intact until the governorship elections are over
