The 2019 political plots and manouvering has started in Ogun State as nocturnal meeting are being held by powerful caucuses.
One politician that is considering gunning for the governorship slot of the state is the son of billionaire pool magnate, sir kessington Adebutu, popularly known as Baba Ijebu, Hon Oladipupo Adebutu.
According to reliable information reaching Yemojanewsng.com, Ladi Adebutu who represents Remo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives has been reaching out to powerful people in the state in order to succeed the incumbent governor of the state, Ibikunle Amosun as the next governor in 2019.
The source revealed that based on the zoning arrangement in the state, the next governor, after Amosun completes his second term, will come from the Ogun East Senatorial District.
“That is why Ladi Adebutu is throwing his hat into the ring. People have even started calling him incoming governor,” our source quipped
To lend credence to the assertions of our source, we learnt that at the 25th anniversary of the Akarigbo of Remo, held about three weeks ago, Juju musician, King Sunny Ade who was contracted to entertain guests at the event sang praises of Ladi Adebutu as the next governor of the state and referred to him as incoming governor. Among those who attended the event were, Vice President Yemi Osibanjo, governor Ibikunle Amosun and former governor Gbenga Daniel.
The source told yemojanewsng.com that Ladi Adebutu is currently recruiting his political canvassers and has said he is ready to spend three billion naira between now and 2018 when the race for the governorship ticket will be in top gear.
We learnt Ladi is banking on the enormous financial resources of his father to prosecute his governorship dream.
Meanwhile, there are signals that Ladi Adebutu, a member of the People Democratic Party(PDP) will soon decamp to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in order to achieve his dream.
Our source disclosed that Ladi’s father, Kessington Adebutu had already met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Governor Ibikunle Amosun on the need for the billionaire pool merchant to deploy his financial resource into funding the APC.
“Shortly after the last general election ex president Obasanjo met with Baba Ijebu and asked him to tell his son, Ladi to decamp to APC. Baba Ijebu did not object, but asked for some time. Obasanjo even threatened the man that his pool business will suffer if he refuses, and that Ladi’s political career will be cut short,” the source added.
Baba Ijebu, we were told has also met with Governor Amosun severally where they discussed business related issue and the possibilities of Ladi Adebutu decamping to the APC.
However, as things stand now, Ladi Adebutu doesn’t have time for whatever national assignment he is being expected to perform in the National Assembly as he is preoccupied with the underground campaign for his 2019 governorship dream, which some of his opponents have described as building a castle in the air.
