Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Friday stormed the Abuja home of a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Allison-Madueke, taking over the premises.

The operatives arrived Allison-Madueke’s home, located in the Asokoro district of Abuja, at about 4:50p.m, few hours after she was arrested in London.

The operatives were said to have arrived the location in two Hilux trucks and three cars.

Allison-Madueke had been in London for some time now, was reportedly arrested in connection with a case involving bribery, corruption and money laundering being investigated by the UK Crime Agency.

It is not clear whether the agency’s latest move has anything to do with her London arrest.

Allison-Madueke’s arrest is coming just days after President Muhammadu Buhari’s declaration at the United Nations General Assembly in New York that those who had mismanaged of pilfered funds from Nigeria’s oil sector would be made to account for them.

In his Independence Day broadcast to the nation, Thursday, Buhari had informed Nigerians that he had ordered a full audit of the revenues accruing to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and other revenue generating agencies of government

Two top British officials in London have confirmed the development to this newspaper. They requested not to be named because they had no permission to speak on the issue.
