Senator Buruji Kasham who is the Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, got more than he bargained for at the South West leaders meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), currently going on in Akure, the Ondo State capital, today Monday 8th August, 2016.

Sources at the well attended meeting called to determine the candidate of the party for the National Chairmanship position of the party, which has been zoned to the South West, revealed that Kasamu and his delegates were not recognised at the meeting and that they were not even allowed into the premises where the event is being held.

According to a source, Buruji came with lots of his Omo-Ilu Group members, and he reportedly hanged somewhere outside the venue of the event, while his people; Chief Pegba Otemolu, Gboyega Nasir Isiaka (GNI), Hon Segun Adekoya (Attacker), and a few others went into the venue premises.

“Kashamu’s people came in two coaster buses and patrol vans, while his main rival, Hon Ladi Adebutu sat inside a bus waiting for the arrival of the Ekiti and Ondo State Governors for the commencement of the meeting’. The source disclosed.

We learnt that before the arrival of the two South West governors, Hon Adebutu was then called upon to identify the authentic delegates for the meeting and this drew the ire of the Kasamu group gathered around who started shouting, “we no go gree.”

“Immediately the name of the Chairman of the party in the state, Hon. Sikirulai Ogundele was mentioned, they (members of Omo-Ilu Group) tried to disrupt the proceedings, but they met stiff resistance from the delegates that came with Adebutu and delegates from other states, who said that Kasamu was not welcomed at the meeting,” the source said.

We were reliably informed that Adebutu was allowed in amidst cheering and applause, while Senator Kashamu and his group were prevented from entering the venue.

“Kasamu then drove in, but he couldn’t get down from his G-Wagon, while his people had to return to their various buses and left in annoyance. The long and short of the story is that, they were rejected at the meeting,” one of our sources revealed.

It would be recalled that Senator Buruji Kasham and Hon Ladi Adebutu have been fighting for the control of the PDP in Ogun State. While Adebutu had aligned his structure with the Makarfi led National Caretaker Committee of the party charged with the responsibility of organising a fresh National convention of the party, Senator Buruji is known to be one of the major backers of the unpopular Alli Modu Sheriff faction.
