Honourable Adesegun Adekoya Abdel-Majid, representing Ijebu North/Ijebu East/Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Abuja has described last Monday’s verdict of the Appeal Court which sat in Ibadan as victory for democracy which portends that there can still be hope for the citizens of the country in the face of brazen oppression.
He expressed satisfaction that the Appeal Court showed best conduct and thoroughness in their review of an earlier judgment handed down by the National Election Petition Tribunal which sat in Abeokuta on the 9th of October, 2015, by reversing the ‘rape’ on democracy and returned a verdict which pronounced him (Hon. Adekoya however thanked all his supporters and people of Ijebu North/Ijebu East/Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency, as well as the leadership and members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State for their prayers and supports during the trying times. According to him “your ceaseless prayers, and good wishes have greatly assisted in reaching where we are to day, and the victory is definitely yours, for believing so much in me with your overwhelming mandate during the March 28th National Assembly election, and for also standing by to defend that mandate up to the Court of Appeal when it appeared that agents of retrogression seek to use back door to hijack same”
He therefore promised “now that the distraction is over, it is time to return to quality representation on behalf of our people, and to ensure that our people benefit immensely from the democratic dividends in which they have invested, and this I solemnly promise our people”.
Hon. Adekoya further call “on all and sundry in his federal constituency, irrespective of party affiliation, to join him in ensuring better lives and living condition of the people, especially in this trying times in our nation’s political and economic history”, noting that as Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Land Transport and a member of eight other Standing committees in the GreenChamber, he welcomes ideas on how best to deliver and be of mutual benefits to all citizens of the country.
