Chairman, House Committee on Health Services of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Segun Olulade has commended the state Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode for commissioning the first state-owned Helipad for medical emergencies in Nigeria.

Olulade in a statement issued on Friday, stated that the commissioning of the helipad at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), was another first from Governor Ambode considering the fact that such has never happened anywhere in Nigeria.

The lawmaker, who is representing Epe Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly, pointed out that the commissioning of the Helipad in LASUTH will make the hospital attend swiftly to emergency cases that require urgent attention.

According to him, “I must say that I am highly impressed with this new one from our Governor, and from day one, I have always had that confidence that Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode will not disappoint Lagosians.

“From day one in office, the governor has exemplified excellence in governance, he has followed in the tradition of responsibility, responsiveness and focused administration in setting the pace for delivering on his campaign promises and democratic dividends to the people.

“Mr. Ambode has left no one in doubt about his capability and competence as a tested and trusted administrator and technocrat of repute in discharging his constitutional responsibility, creditably to the admiration of the good people of Lagos State who are delighted that they made the right choice at the polls on April 11th, 2015.

“It is common knowledge that he has touched the health sector for good within his first year in office, by commissioning health equipments such as 20 Mobile Care Units Ambulances and 26 Transport Ambulances that have been deployed to the various General Hospitals and Primary Health Centers across the state.

He has also approved the purchase of generators and x-ray machines to ensure uninterrupted power supply to health institutions. This is in addition to ordering the recruitment of medical personnel to improve service delivery”, the statement said.

“Yesterday’s Helipad commissioning is surely another first from the governor and I must say that I am very proud to be part of this administration. This no doubt will put Lagos State on the number one list when it comes to the issue of healthcare in Africa,” the statement read.
