The Ogun State governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Senator Akin Odunsi has assured that youth empowerment and human capital development will be in the fore front of his administration if elected into office in the April 11 2015 governorship elections.
The Senator who currently represents Ogun West Senatorial district in the upper legislative house noted that Ogun State is blessed with millions of hardworking graduates and youths that can turn the state around if effectively deployed for productive purposes.
The award winning Senator made this known when he played host to some youth leaders in his private residence in Ado-Odo/Ota local government area of Ogun State last Sunday.
“God has blessed this state with abundant manpower for the development of our state. I don’t see any sense in a government that abandons its youth, gives out road construction contracts to outsiders who do shoddy jobs and run away with our money. There are scientists, civil engineers, quantity surveyors and artisans amongst you here that are jobless and its simply because the incumbent government does not believe in empowering our youths and building their capacity.
“I want you to know that the SDP government will be your government insha allah. We have loads of programmes and bold ideas for our youths and the SDP believes the young people of this state will join this party to build the Ogun State of our dream. You are the engine room of the state and we will make sure that our youths are positively engaged to drive the economy of the state and create more wealth for our people,” Senator Odunsi stated.
Thereafter, the leaders of the youth groups pledged their support for the Ogun State SDP gubernatorial candidate.
A spokesperson for the youth groups, Mr Malik Ibitoye commended the guber hopefull for the numerous federal government projects he has been able to influence into the local government and the entire senatorial district which has never been. Ibitoye therefore pledge the willingness of youth groups made up of professionals, young businessmen and artisans to work with the SDP candidate in the coming general elections.
