The 2015 Yuletide period is gone and works have begun across the country. However many are still relishing the memories of the festive period, especially those that got gifts from friends, families, associates and politicians.
But in Ogun State, South West, Nigeria, news flew around during the Christmas period that a top politician gave out a bizarre gift to members of his political party.
According to a source who is a staunch People Democratic Party (PDP) member in the state, House of Representatives member, and son of a billionaire Kessington Adebutu, Hon, Oladipupo Adebutu had during the Xmas period sent live chickens to PDP members across the state, but to the dismay of many who thronged to locations where the chicken was to be distributed, they met dead chickens.
“Hon. Adebutu sent rice and live chickens to us, but we don’t know how it happened, when I got there with some of our members, we met dead chickens, and they still told us to take them. Though I rejected it, some people took them home”. The source alleged.
Yemojanewsng.com reporter however contacted a top PDP member in the State to give us more insight into the dead chicken saga and the stalwart responded thus; “No, it is not true. How can Hon. Adebutu send dead chicken to people. What I know is that he sent live chicken to all the 20 local governments in the state. In my local government, he gave us about 250 chickens. Some local government got between 100 and 200. He also sent over 150 bags of rice each to all the local governments in the state.
“What I also know happened was that when the chickens were being transported, the handlers transporting the chickens did a shoddy job as some of them were conveyed in vehicles that had no proper ventilation. Naturally some of the chicken died. Just a few died from the ones that was given to our local government.” The PDP chieftain Stated.
Another close confidant of Hon. Adebutu told our reporter that the transporters of the chicken should be blamed while the rep member be commended for the good gestures.
“Hon. Adebutu gave out thousands of live chickens to PDP members across the state. Should he now be blamed if the people that are supposed to transport them did shoddy jobs. The man is a good man and should be commended”. The confidant opined.
