Ogun PDP Chairman Congratulates Makarfi As He Takes Over National Secretariat
The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has congratulated the Chairman of the party’s National Caretaker Committee, Ahmed Makarfi, for the confidence reposed in him by the leaders of the party as he takes over the national headquarters of PDP.
In a statement released by the Chairman of the party in the state, Hon. Sikirulai Ogundele and signed by its Publicity Secretary, Mr. Malik Olamilekan Ibitoye, the party specifically thanked the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the party under the leadership of Senator Walid Jibrin, the Governors elected under the PDP and other leaders of the party for the development.
Ogundele was quoted to have said in the statement, which was made available to the media, that the latest move would further position the PDP as the most formidable opposition party in Africa that would continue to be a force to reckon with in the country’s political development and in the emancipation of black people from oppressive leaders.
“We in the Ogun State PDP received the news of the belief of the leaders of the party in Makarfi with gladness. The decision did not come to us as a surprise because we knew all along that the PDP is capable is solving its internal problems and challenges.
“With what has happened, we have no doubt that Ahmed Makarfi would do his best to steer the ship of the party and place it on the right path to conduct an all-inclusive National Convention of our great Party and prepare the ground for the party to take over power at the centre in Nigeria in 2019.
“Our party is one, which foundation was laid on the ideals and principles of democracy and with Makarfi at the helms of affairs of the party now, the process of rebuilding the party has started in full,” Ogundele said, adding that the PDP is a rejected stone that would soon become the cornerstone of the house.
The party added in the statement that history would be on the side of the leaders of the party, who it said have demonstrated high level of responsibility and selflessness, which it said portends a bright future for the party, and that this has shown that the PDP is “truly blessed with people that are ready to sacrifice personal gains for the future of their fatherland.’
“We want to congratulate our leaders and the party in general for this development and it is certain that our party is poised to reclaim its position in the country as the party to beat.
“The situation in our country requires all hands to be on deck and the PDP cannot afford to be disunited at this precarious period in our nation, which is why we are glad that reasons have prevailed in our party. Our hope is that Nigeria would be brought back to its better days, when our party takes over at the centre in the nearest future,” the statement read, adding that the stage is now set for the second coming of the PDP at the federal level.
