Obasa Urges More Prayers For Nigeria During Ramadhan; Says We Should Continue To Share Love

Muslims across the federation have been called upon to remain steadfast and be more prayerful during Ramadan fasting to ensure the country survives its current socio-economic challenges. .
The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa who stated in Ikeja on Monday, 6th June, 2016, also called on Muslims to use the occasion to share love and ensure that peace reign in the country through their actions and utterances.
The Speaker’s call was contained in his Ramadhan message to Nigerians particularly Muslim faithful on the commencement of the one month fasting embarked upon by Muslims all over the world.
“The Ramadhan period affords us all the opportunity to move closer to God, it iis thus an opportunity for us to be our brothers’ keepers, share love among ourselves irrespective of our faith and above all, pray for the continued survival of the Nigerian nation,” Rt. Hon. Obasa said in the statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Musbau Rasak.
According to the Lagos Assembly Speaker, though Nigeria is facing a lot of challenges occasioned by the misrule of the past, the are signs that things are and will get better soon. “However, for us to achieve our dream, we must all live together in peace, share love among ourselves and support the government in its desire to improve the standard of life of our people. The Ramadhan period offers us all the opportunity to achieve our aim through divine guidance from God anchored on our prayers and supplication,” Rt. Hon. Obasa said.
He also urged Muslims to observe the fasting diligently and in accordance with Allah’s injunctions, as contained in the Holy Qur’an, arguing that it is by strict adherence to this that the fasting can be accepted by Allah.
“I greet all Muslims in Nigeria for witnessing another Ramadan fasting. May Allah accept our prayers during this holy month. We need prayers of all of us to move this country forward; we need our commitment and steadfastness to ensure governments at all levels succeed in their efforts to make life more abundant for the citizenry,” the Speaker stated.
He added that Muslims must allow fasting to have positive impact on them, explaining that reading the Qur’an, feeding the poor and observing other good deeds should be their occupation during this month of Ramadan.
