The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, Lagos State Area Unit has appealed to Nigerians to renew their commitment in making the country great.

The Amir of the group, Mallam Saheed Ashafa, said this while reacting to the speech delivered by President Muhammad Buhari to mark his one year in office on Sunday.

Ashafa expressed optimism that with maximum support from citizens Nigeria would attain desirable growth under the Buhari-led Federal Government.

He subsequently called on religious leaders across the country not to stop supporting the current government with prayers.

He said, “Though the journey might have been rough, we cannot but commend President Buhari for succeeding in areas that his predecessor failed. With three years remaining, the president has been able to return sanity to the system, reduce the ravaging corruption and insecurity in the country.

“It is understandable that things may be a bit rough now but Nigerians must not lose hope. We should remain patriotic and renew our commitment.

“If we do not endure now, the pains we are running for may end up to ruin this country beyond repairs. We should be confident in the President’s leadership ability. His comments and reactions to issues show that he is a man of integrity and ready to deliver Nigeria from the shambles of underdevelopment.”

The Amir also called on government at all levels to make masses-friendly policies, stating that Nigerians should be made to enjoy the dividend of democracy.

He added, “‎One important aspect that people can enjoy the dividend of democracy is through standard education. Government need to concentrate on how to make our educational system functional and self sustaining by making the curriculum entrepreneurial in all fields of endeavour.”
