Sir Christopher Lee has died aged 93.
The Lord of the Rings legend, who also appeared in Stars Wars, passed away at 8.30am on Sunday at London’s Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, sources close to his family told the Telegraph.
The star – who played Saruman in the Lord of the Rings film franchise – was said to have been treated at the hospital for respiratory problems and heart failure in the last 3 weeks.
According to the publication, Lady Lee opted to delay the news of his death until family members were told.
The couple had a daughter, Christina Erika Carandini Lee, who tied the knot with Juan Francisco Aneiros Rodriguez in July 2001.
Several stars have paid tribute to the legendary actor following news of his passing, including Mayor of London Boris Johnson.
He took to Twitter to post a picture of himself holding a lightsabre while standing next to the star.
