Lafenwa Market Inferno: Agura Seeks Government Supports For Victims

The Agura of Gbagura,Oba Saburi Babajide Bakre, has applead to Ogun state government to come to the aid of victims of the fire incident that occurred at Lafenwa market, where over 200 million worth of goods were destroyed.

According to the Monarch during his visit to the scene of the inferno in Abeokuta, claimed the incident was quite unfortunate hence; calling on the people to always ensure safety first at anytime so as to prevent avoidable accident that may eventually lead to huge destruction.

In his words,”the infernos occurred due to a petrol tanker that feel midnight around 2am that spilled its content into the market that eventually exploded, causing serious destruction of goods and equipment and affected the largest milling store in the area where Local rice is been processed for people in Abeokuta.

“Am appealing to governor Abiodun to compassionately compensate the affected traders at the Lafenwa infernos, only Almighty God could adequately comfort and compensate them, but noting that any token support from the government will invariably go a long in their lives”.

He commended the effort of the present administration led by Prince Dapo Abiodun for his proactive measure at steming the fire from escalating.

“Also, I will acknowledge the effort of the present administration for putting in place programmes that promotes youth development across the state but increment in the activities of miscreants among other criminal elements thronging around his domain particularly using Lafenwa under Bridge as their operating den for criminals poses serious danger to several communities in the area.

” I want the state government urgent intervention and proactive measures from all the concerned security agencies to rise to the occasion and end all sorts of criminalities being perpetrated in the axis”.

Some traders, Chief Musa Adeyinka and Mrs Ramotalai Daud speaking respectively appealed to government to support them with any financial assistance to alaviate their sufferings.

“We appreciate the monach for his show love and concern for their well-being at this trying time in Lafenwa Market, they prayed for God’s grace to continue to abide with him and that God should comfort all those who were affected one way or the other in the fire.

“We are expecting the governmet support, as the loss was too huge for them to bear considering the biting economy situation ravaging the country at the moment”.
