How Fayemi Defrauded Ekiti LGs Of N653.8m

governor-fayemi-750x400Even after losing the election, Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi is enmeshed in fresh N653.8 million fraud, involving N582,041,542.93
 The fund was released to the 16 Local Councils in the State as their Non-Oil Revenue for the month of May, 2014 shared in June, and N75,193,246.04 released as the four percent statutory payment to Local Government Parastatals and Agencies from the June allocation.The N582,041,542.9382 was transfered to the State Government Road Account where the confirmation was being signed by the Permanent Secretary, Local Government Service Commission, Deji Ajayi and the cheque signed by the State Accountant General.From the N582,041,542.93, Ado Local Government’s allocation was to get  N47,225,359.99, Gbonyin (N35,935,307.80), Efon (N34,263,810.69), Ekiti East (N35,379,244.69), Ekiti South-West (N37,473,514.51), Ekiti West (N38,200,810.39), Emure (N31,477,704.97), Ido/Osi (N38,778,014.41), Ijero (N41,490,934.09), Ikere (N36,230,696.92), Ikole (N38,827,165.67), Ilejemeje (N27,247,362.81), Irepodun/Ifelodun (N34,534,193.76), Ise/Orun (N33,699748.88), Moba (N36,143,435.21) and Oye (N35,134,238.15).

“The fund was taken wholesale from the Local Government account and transferred into the State government account.

“They are using fake road projects to cover-up the fraud and at the appropriate time, those involved in it will have to explain why Local Council fund was spent without Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC) approval,” a top council official said.

Apart from the N582,041,542.93 fraud, questions are also being raised on the sum of N75,193,246.04 released as the four percent statutory payment to Local Government Parastatals and Agencies from the June allocation.
Out of the N75,193,246.04, only N3.4 million was released. N2 million was given to the Local Government Service Commission, N800,000 to the Loans Board and N400,000 to the Training School.

Part of the remaining fund was shared among the 16 Local Government Caretaker Committee Chairmen on June 19, 2014 at N4 million each.
