Sunday Dare, the minister of youth and sports, says the National Youth Service Corps orientation camps will open on November 10.

In a tweet on Thursday, the minister said COVID-19 protocols will be enforced when the camps reopen.

It has been seven months since the NYSC suspended orientation exercise in all camps nationwide over coronavirus fears.

On March 18, the management of NYSC had temporarily suspended the orientation course for 2020 Batch A Stream One in order to curtail the spread of coronavirus among corps members.

Similarly, on March 20, NYSC had postponed biometric clearance and community development service (CDS) for all its corps members.

At the time, the scheme had asked all the 2020 batch A stream 1 corps members to proceed to their places of primary assignment.

It told corps members that “they shall be invited back to the orientation camps when the situation improves, just like it happened a few years ago when the nation was confronted by the Ebola virus threat”.

The NYSC scheme is a mandatory one year programme for Nigerian graduates who finish their tertiary education before the age of 30.
