FCMB Customer Dies After Officials Denied Him Access To Account

A customer of FCMB in Port Harcourt slumped and died in front of the bank on Monday after he was not allowed to withdraw money from his account.

According to an eyewitness, the man had been trying to withdraw money from his account at the FCMB branch located at Lagos Bus Stop, Aggrey axis of Port Harcourt, Rivers State since Friday, but officials refused him access.

BusinessLive.ng could not get the reason the FCMB customer who was said to be in his 50s was not allowed to make a withdrawal from his account.

He was again barred from accessing his account when he visited the bank on Monday, he became frustrated, having begged the officials for over five hours but was snubbed.

He thereafter slumped in front of the bank and gave the ghost before he was rushed to the hospital.

A man in his 50s said to operate an account with the FCMB in Port Harcourt reportedly slumped and died on Monday after he was denied access to his account.

Bussinesslive.ng contacted FCMB’s Group Head, Corporate Affairs, Diran Olojo, via this mobile phone to get the bank’s reaction, he did not pick the call, but later sent an SMS to our correspondent, asking him to send a message, which was sent to him.

However, as of the time of filing the report he has yet responded to the SMS sent to him.

An eyewitness recounted, “The man just died now in front of the bank. He was refused access to his own money since Friday even when he came with his next of kin. He was asked to go to the court to get an affidavit knowing the court is not in session.”
