BETRAYAL: Gov Amosun Plots To Hijack APC South West Structure From Tinubu !!

First Bank Nigeria

There is a silent but serious political war going on between APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun.

Yemojanewsng.com gathered that the cause of the war is the new found ego being displayed by Governor Amosun occasioned by his closeness to President Muhamadu Buhari which Tinubu is not comfortable with. Amosun on the other hand sees Buhari as his real political father and not Tinubu, because both had shared a bond of connection since 2007 when Amosun decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) where he was elected as a Senator in the National Assembly to the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) to contest for the 2007 g0vernorship elections. General Buhari was the presidential candidate of the ANPP then.

After the 2007 elections which they lost woefully, Amosun continued to maintain his relationship with Buhari, even as he (Buhari) later moved from the ANPP to the CPC to again contest for the 2011 presidential elections and that was when Amosun moved his political structure to the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria(ACN)

When the Ogun State chapter of ACN was gearing up for the 2011 gubernatorial election, Chief Olusegun Osoba was the political leader of the party and he dispenses who gets what ticket to contest against the PDP government in the state represented by Otunba Gbenga Daniel who was the state governor. It was Gbenga Daniel that sacked Osoba from office in 2003.

The relationship between Senator Ibikunle Amosun, and Chief Olusegun Osoba then was sour, as Chief Olusegun Osoba got irritated at the mention of Amosun’s name, not to talk of nominating him as the governorship candidate of the ACN.

Osoba’s only reason for rejecting Senator Ibikunle Amosun  was the fact that Amosun played a vital role in truncating Osoba’s reelection as governor of Ogun state in 2003.

But with the strong backing and influence of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who was the leader of the ACN in the country, chief Olusegun Osoba eventually succumbed and yielded to Tinubu’s pressure as Amosun was finally imposed to run for Ogun State gubernatorial election on the platform of ACN.

Amosun contested the 2011 general elections and won amidst the crack in the Ogun State PDP to become the governor of the gateway state.

In his first term, governor Amosun boxed out Chief Olusegun Osoba from all political activities, ranging from appointments to governance. The Owu born politician was also alleged to have strategically hijacked the party structure from Osoba also, with  the backing of Bola Tinubu.

With the birth of a mega party, All Progressive Congress (APC) which was an amalgamation of four parties( ACN, ANPP, CPC and APGA) to wrestle power from the ruling PDP at the center,  Aremo Osoba and his group left the APC to contest in 2015 general election under the platform of rejuvenated Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Governor Ibikunle Amosun contested for his second term in office in this year’s guber election last April on the platform of the newly formed APC and won the last gubernatorial election in Ogun State.  Mohammadu Buhari, who also contested as the presidential flag bearer of  APC at the Federal level also won to become the President of Federal Republic of Nigeria after trying for four consecutive times.

As soon as Buhari emerged as the president elect, a highly placed source in the APC informed yemojanewsng.com that Gov. Amosun began to plot how he will be Buhari’s point man in the south west zone of the country, “everybody in the country know that the APC as a political party came to existence through Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and Buhari emerged as the presidential candidate of the party through him. But a lot of politicians close to President Buhari in the northern part of the country don’t really trust Tinubu, and Amosun is taking advantage of that, and has been able to penetrate the inner circle of Buhari’s team. In fact, Amosun’s ultimate power game is to betray Tinubu at all cost and emerge the political leader of the south west under this Buhari regime”

While Bola Tinubu has been conspicuously missing in many outings of President Muhammadu Buhari after the presidential inauguration, governor Amosun and the immediate past Lagos State governor, Babatunde Raji  Fasola are always seen in the entourage, both local and foreign. Insiders alleged that “Asiwaju Tinubu is presently having sleepless nights on this development”.

Another source was also told yemojanewsng.com, “ Asiwaju  who is seen as the National leader of the party as well as a kingmaker will see the development as a slap on his face, for somebody  that is widely known and addressed by all and sundry as Tinubu’s boy  betray him despite the roles he (Asiwaju) played before Amosun emerged as the governor of Ogun State in 2011. Amosun owe a lot of things to Tinubu, but let us sit and watch how the treachery of Amosun will end,” the source concluded
