The Ogun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has congratulated the party’s governorship candidate in the forthcoming election in Ondo State, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede for his victory at the Appeal Court sitting in Abuja today.

In a statement issued by its Chairman in the state, Hon.  Sikirulahi Ogundele, he ”saluted the unusual courage, doggedness, perseverance and gallantry exhibited by Eyitayo Jegede and the Ahmed Makarfi led National Caretaker Committee of the PDP in the long and tortuous road to achieving this judicial success.  it is indeed a thing of joy that the judgment has finally shown that democracy has come to stay in Nigeria”.

The party added in the release, which was signed by its state Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Malik Olamilekan Ibitoye that the likes of  Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim, Senator Ali-Modu Sheriff and Senator Kashamu Buruji should know that things have changed in the country, and that “their selfish interest could no longer override the interest of the masses.”

“We are indeed happy that truth has prevailed eventually in Ondo State. The victory of Eyitayo Jegede has right the wrong in the Ondo State chapter of the PDP. We are very sure that the victory would make things better for the party in the state and we are sure of winning the Governorship election coming up in Ondo State on Saturday, November, 26. We are not in a banana republic where anything goes. Jimoh Ibrahim should go to a banana republic to try his luck as a governor, not Ondo State. My message to Senator Ali Modu Sheriff and Senator Kasham Buruji is that their game is up. Their antics of blackmailing judges and manipulating court processes to get favorable judgements is over.

“Those, who have written the party off should know that the time has come for everyone to see the PDP as the solution to the problems of the country on all fronts. We have proven this over the years and a vote for the PDP in Ondo State on Saturday would lead to more progress in the state,” the statement read.

The party further congratulated the key players in the PDP in Ondo State, especially Governor Olusegun Mimiko, who it said has done his best for the state in the last years, adding that the victory of Jegede in the court is a proof that the best is yet to come for the party in the state.

Sikirulai then called on the people of Ondo State to troop out en masse on Saturday, November 26 and vote for the PDP so that they could enjoy better dividends of democracy in the state and assured them of the support of the state chapter of the party before, during and after the election.

He stated that all those that are planning to truncate the nation’s democracy should sheath their words and realize that the people of Nigeria can no longer be deceived.
