The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has confirmed the air return made by Aero Contractors plane from Abuja on Tuesday afternoon.

According to a statement from the General Manager, Public Affairs of NCAA, Fan Ndubuoke, the aircraft which took off from the Murtala Muhammed Airport Domestic Terminal (MMA2) at about 3p.m. to Abuja Lagos developed technical problem and made an air return as the normal procedure.

The aircraft with 141 passengers on board on arrival at the international wing of MMIA Lagos had its passengers transferred to another Aero aircraft while some demanded  the refund of their fares.

Some of the passengers, according to Ndubuoke, rescheduled their flight for today.

He said NCAA would further examine what actually happened during the flight but assured the public of the agency’s commitment to safety and security of  passengers.

The airline also explained that  flight NG127 made an air return as a result of a bust tyre which occurred just as the airplane was taking off.

“The pilot did the right thing by not trying to abort the take off. He controlled the airplane into the air and following all trained procedures, he brought the plane back to a safe landing.

“At no time during all of these were the passengers lives at any risk,” statement from the airline said
