Chairman, House Committee on Health Services of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Segun Olulade, has urged Muslims and the citizenry in general, to re-dedicate themselves and make the fear of God the foundation of their lives as they celebrate Year 2016 Eid-el-Kabir.
Olulade in his goodwill message on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir, said the event symbolised the fear of the Almighty Allah and the desire of man to always comply with the wish of his creator.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the lawmaker, who is representing Epe Constituency II in the House of Assembly, stated reasons why the fear of God must reign supreme.
“With the fear of God in our hearts, mutual respect and love, we will tolerate one another; work together and be able to harness our abundant resources as a progressive nation. We cannot achieve much with unnecessary frictions and disharmony. What Nigerians need now is to move forward with the present change era,” said Olulade.
While calling on Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of love, tolerance and mutual respect, the lawmaker also added that these virtues are the panacea to move the nation forward. “We have herculean tasks to address. I am very optimistic that with our collective efforts, all the challenges confronting this nation are surmountable and we will soon overcome.
“All arms of government must not rest on their oars in the onerous task of building a formidable nation where all Nigerians will live in peace and prosperity. The Muslim community and Nigerians at large must continue to pray for the government,” the statement read in part.
While congratulating Nigerian Muslims for witnessing another Eid-el-Kabir celebration,
Olulade urged them to rededicate their lives to Allah and to never forget the service of compassion and sacrifice, just as he stressed that peace and socio-economic development of the nation remained paramount.
“The lesson for this season and beyond is that we seek the face of God and never forget service to our fellow men. Most importantly, we must pray for a better country, but not stop at praying but also work to achieve it.
“I believe that Nigeria is destined to be great and its citizens destined to benefit from that greatness. I believe that we have been held back in our progressive development because of bad leaders, bad policies and a weak level of patriotism but I believe we are almost at the Promised Land,” he added.
