As the 2023 general elections are around the corner, a top politician and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency in Ogun State, Prince Babajide Fadairo has said that Governor Dapo Abiodun has done well and that he deserves a second term in office.

Fadairo aka Omo Loyd, said in a statement, which he personally signed, that Abiodun is a blessing to Ogun State and that the people of the state should allow him to complete what he started in the state few years back.

According to him, Governor Dapo Abiodun is a selfless leader, who he said has effectively managed the resources of the gateway state for the benefit of the people, adding that giving him a second term would improve the fortunes of the state.

He emphasised that the Governor touched virtually all the sectors of the state including health, education, agriculture, infrastructure, youths empowerment, sports amongst numerous others.

He pointed to the consistent payment of the salaries of the civil servants, increase in the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), improvement in security, constant engagement with the people as parts of the great achievements of the Governor.

He outlined the achievements of Governor Dapo Abiodun to include construction of Ijebu Ode Express way and toll gate, Agro Allied commercial Airport project in ilisan, and numerous intra city road projects all over the state.

Others, he said, include a joint venture with Arise Integrated Industries within the Aerotropolis (Airport city) at Remo Economic development clusters.

He stated that since the inception of his administration in 2019, Abiodun recognised the need for an efficient public transport system.

He said that he started off by inaugurating an interim committee on transport sector. In 2021, following the committee’s recommendation, a full-fledged Ministry of Transportation was created to replace the Bureau of Transportation.

According to him, the governor went ahead to inaugurate the Ogun State Transportation Master Plan and also launched the Mass Bus Transit System, which are air conditioned, Wi-Fi-enabled buses.

“The transport policy takes into consideration the short, medium, and long-term approaches to the development of Ogun State’s transport sector and covers road, rail, water and air transportation plans.

“The multimodal transportation master plan of Governor Abiodun’s administration stems from the comprehensive and well researched Urban Transport Policy and Strategic Transport Intervention Plan. The buses recently launched in the pilot phase of the transport master plan are being used to transport commuters within Abeokuta for now, but will expand to other cities soon,” he said.

“In the area of water transportation, efforts are being made by the state government to provide free movement for water transport operators by clearing sea weeds on Ogun water ways and making them navigable for commercial operations. This will improve socio-economic activities and standard of living of operators and the people.

“Convinced that both the inland and coastal waters running through Ogun State offer huge and promising business opportunities for several communities which have been isolated due to lack of water transportation system, the Abiodun administration is set to facilitate private investment in water transportation in other to connect several communities in Ipokia, Ado-Odo/Ota, Odogbolu, Ijebu East and Ogun Waterside Local Government Areas laterally and also vertically with Badagry, Iba, Ibeju Lekki and Epe in Lagos State for rural socio-economic integration,” he stated.

He said that Dapo Abiodun’s massive road construction policy feeds favourably into the transport policy, which is aimed at opening up those hitherto neglected border corridors, so that, socio-economic activities can flourish and the state and its people can further prosper.

“Again, in less than four years, Prince Abiodun has demonstrated that an extraordinary vision pursued with collaboration, sincerity of purpose and the interest of the people as the ultimate goal, Ogun is on the path of an assured future,” he said.

He commended the Governor for having a listening ear and for providing a government with the right direction and good leadership for the people at this time, which he said calls for creativity on the part of any leader in the nation.

With this, he said, Ogun State was pronounced Best State in MSME by State House Abuja, adding that it was surprising that Abiodun could achieve all these landmarks despite COVID-19 lockdown of almost one year and End SARS protests in the country.

“Governor Dapo Abiodun has the ability to do more within the available resources. I can tell you that the Governor is the best for the people.

“For the first time in Ogun State, we have a leader who listens to the people and that is ready to make life better for them.

“See what he is doing on Agbara road and all the other roads in the state. Nobody can fault him, when you talk about a man with the right vision for the people,” he said.

Prince Fadairo also urged the people to cast their votes for other candidates of the APC in the state including the party’s Senatorial Candidate for Ogun Central, Shuaib Salisu, it’s Federal House of Representatives’ candidate for Abeokuta South, Hon. Moruf Afolabi, Reps Candidate for Abeokuta North, Odeda and Obafemi Owode Federal Constituency, Hon. Olumide Osoba and that of Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency, and Hon. Ibrahim Ayokunle Isiaka

He further called for support for the candidates of the party for the Ogun State House of Assembly including those of Ifo 1 State Constituency, Rt. Hon Olakunle Oluomo, Ifo 2 State Constituency, Hon. Folami Salami and Hon. Yusuf Olawale Amosun for Ewekoro State Constituency.

Others include those of Abeokuta South State Constituency 1, Hon. Oluwatobi Taiwo Doregos, Abeokuta South State Constituency 2, Hon. Igbalaye Wasiu Ayodele, Abeokuta North State Constituency, Hon. Tunde Tella, and Obafemi Owode State Constituency, Hon. Damilola K. Soneye.
