Unremitted Deductions: PDP Commends Ogun Workers
...promises total support and solidarity
The Ogun state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP wishes to commend members of the state work force for their patriotic courage of confronting the insensitive ruling APC government by embarking on indefinite industrial action over issues surrounding their welfare.
Before now, our party being a very responsible, pro -workers political organization, has made several patriotic calls to the ruling government to prioritize issues concerning workers salary and welfare., instead of embarking on weekly voyage of purchasing awards and other irresponsible frivolities.
We are, however satisfied that Ogun workers are ready to take their destinies in their own very hands by confronting the hydra headed monster planning to put their lives in abject jeopardy.
Like we have always held, any government that owes 21 months of salary deductions and eight years statutory leave allowances, has not only sent hardworking civil servants on a journey of no return, such government has also lost the essence and character of responsible and responsive government. Such monster has no business in government.
For us, with the declaration of indefinite strike by the workers, members of the general public should accept that there can be no any further explanation. The ruling APC government under the grossly incompetent watch of Prince Dapo Abiodun has failed woefully in core areas of governance. Every sector of the state has now felt, known and seen how uninspiring a government can be.
At times as this, in line with our party’s tradition of standing in solidarity with members of the labour force, we are ever prepared to encourage Ogun state workers who have ensured several years of excruciating pains, agony and unmitigated wickedness under the dying APC misrule.
While we appreciate industrial actions as labour’s legitimate tools of pressing home its demands, we also demand that the government to redeems its pledges to the workers by paying them without any further delay.
