About 4:30pm on Monday, President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, returned to Nigeria.

His private jet touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, to the admiration of a mammoth crowd, led by members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He was away in Europe for some weeks to, according to some aides, have a well-deserved rest after the February 25 election.
He will he inaugurated as Nigeria’s 16th Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces on May 29 in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
Tinubu returned with his wife, Senator Oluremi, and they were received by the Vice President-Elect, Kashim Shettima; Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila; Senators Dayo Adeyeye, Smart Adeyemi, Senator-elect, Adams Oshiomhole, and others.

He was given a rousing welcome by party supporters and stakeholders, including members of the dissolved APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), led by James Faleke, Secretary of the dissolved APC PCC and Mr Ade Omole, its Director of Diaspora.
Decked in Agbada with his traditional cap, Tinubu waved to the crowd as he was escorted from the airport by a carnival-like motorcade, amid tight security, to the Defence House, Abuja where he would stay ahead of his inauguration on May 29.

Support groups in Abuja, Niger and Nasarawa States had earlier converged at the APC PCC Secretariat at Abuja Central Business District for onward movement to the airport to welcome Tinubu.

Only accredited support groups were allowed at the airport to welcome Tinubu.
