A Lagos-based man, Olurotimi Olawoyin has cried out to the public over threats by members of his family, who have been persecuting and threatening to deal severely with him for refusing to allow the circumcision of his twins’ daughters, Taiwo and Kehinde Olawoyin.
The family, who allegedly claimed that Olurotimi is trying to evade the tradition of the family, is said to have concluded plans to do whatever it would require to deal with the father of the 9-year old twins.
Olawoyin, who spoke with this medium, explained that some members of the family have in the past, made an attempt to kidnap the girls so as to carry out female genital mutilation on them, with such attempts proving abortive.
While explaining that circumcision is against his belief, he pointed out that he has made up his mind to secure her daughters and keep them far from the reach of members of his family. “But now, they have started threatening and persecuting me and that they wouldn’t mind hurting me.
“These threats have become so much that most times, I get scared to move around freely. They are after my life and some of them who have allowed their daughters to be circumcised and saying they won’t mind to kill me if I refuse to allow my girls to be circumcised.
“It is clear to me that they will do anything humanly possible to get me out of the way so as to have access to my daughter but I am also determined to ensure that such a ridiculous thing doesn’t happen to my daughters. I am sending a note of warning to them to leave me and my immediate family alone or be ready to face the law,” he added.
Olawoyin however, disclosed that his lawyers is working assiduously to take all legal actions necessary to bring the family members to book if they did not desist from threatening his life and the lives of his twins daughters.
