Kate Henshaw, a Nollywood actress, has called out critics who think celebrities are being paid to make people believe in the existence of  COVID-19 in Nigeria.

The movie star had on Sunday revealed she had taken the test for the virus, recounting the pains she went through during the process.

This had come a day after Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, a fellow actress, announced she had contracted the virus and is currently undergoing treatment.

But shortly after Henshaw made the post, a follower had taken to the comment section to play down her statement.

She added that the follower had accused her and other celebrities of collecting money just to prove the existence of the virus in Nigeria.

“Someone commented on my IG saying  ‘all these celebrities that have been paid to say there is COVID-19, God will judge you,” she wrote on Twitter.

The 49-year-old actress explained that she had to contain her rage, nothing she felt like laying curses on the follower for the remark.

“If I land am better curse now shay they will say Kate has started again inside blogs. I just blocked the person and moved on. COVID-19 is real!!” she added in a mixture of English and Pidgin.

Several Nigerian celebrities, including Davido and Peter Okoyehad previously shared their COVID-19 test results and experiences with the novel disease on social media.
