Residents of Ogun State have been urged to troop out enmasse and cast their votes for the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC)in the forthcoming Governorship/State Assembly Elections slated for Saturday 9 March, 2019 across the nation.
Making this plea in a statement was the Convener of Gateway Renewal Group, Comrade Babatunde Dada, who commended the people of Ogun State for voting for the candidates of the APC in the Presidential/National Assembly Elections, which held in the country on Saturday 23 February, 2019 all over the country.
It will be recalled that the APC won the three senatorial seats in Ogun State, six out of nine Federal House of Representatives seats, as well as the Presidential election in the state in the 23, February, 2019 elections.
In the statement, which was personally signed by Comrade Dada and made available to journalists on Thursday, he said that the Governorship candidate of the APC in Ogun State for the election, Mr. Dapo Abiodun, was the most qualified amongst the top contenders for the coveted seat.
According to him, Dapo Abiodun is a successful businessman and an oil magnate as the Chief Executive Officer of Heyden Oil, who has paid his due as a philanthropist and a good party member.
“Dapo Abiodun won the primary elections of the APC, which also produced Governor Ibikunle Amosun as the candidate of the APC for the senatorial seat of Ogun Central District.
“It is hypocritical and counterproductive for Amosun to go ahead to support another candidate for the state’s governorship election in person of Hon. Adekunle Akinlade under the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
Gov. Amasun and Akinlade

“Amosun and his APM should not be taken seriously because he couldn’t be a senator under one party and be supporting the governorship candidate of another party.

“The APC remains the party to beat in Ogun State, especially with its performances in the state and in many states in the Presidential/National Assembly General Elections, which held last Saturday.
“Moreso, the Deputy Governorship candidate of the APC for the election, Mrs. Naimat Salako from Ogun West is also an archiever, who has paid her dues in the state,” Comrade Dada said in the statement.
Comrade Dada added that Abiodun, who hails from Iperu-Remo in Ogun East, has proven to be popular in the area with the defeat of the senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun East by the candidate of the APC despite the fact that the Governorship candidate of the PDP, Senator Kashamu Buruji is from Ogun East.
He stressed that Governor Ibikunle Amosun is a traitor, a loser, and an enemy of progress by betraying the same party that gave him an opportunity to be Governor for eight years despite his shortcomings and excesses over the years.
According to him, the people of Ogun State know what is good for them and they would not go back to Egypt, when they are already on their way to Canaanland.
The statement read: “I just want to urge the people of the Ogun State not to listen to a mischievous fellow, who wants to eat his cake and have it.
“Dapo Abiodun is the best man for the job at the moment. He is a successful businessman and a friend of the likes of Alhaji Aliko Dangote and Mr. Femi Otedola, who have promised to join him in making Ogun State the pride of everybody once he gets into office.
“Dapo Abiodun would defeat Ibikunle Amosun and his puppet on Saturday, 9 March. 2019.
“We just want to appeal to our people to cooperate with us and let us keep the dream alive and support a man that has been working assiduously for the development of the Gateway State.”
The people of Ogun State were then advised to be peaceful, ensure that their votes count and massively vote for the APC across the state.
