Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli sustained minor facial injuries during a terrifying robbery at his home in London, according to The Guardian.

The 24-year-old was reportedly held at knifepoint and punched by burglars who had broken into the house, where Alli, his brother and their two partners were self-isolating. The robbery reportedly occurred just after midnight Wednesday morning, with two men making off with numerous items in the house including jewellery and watches.

Police are reportedly reviewing surveillance footage of the incident.

“Police were called at approximately 00:35 on Wednesday 13 May to reports of a robbery at a residential address Barnet,” a police spokesman said.

“Two males gained entry to the property and stole items of jewellery, including watches, before fleeing. One male occupant of the property, aged in his 20s, suffered a minor facial injury after being assaulted. He did not require hospital treatment. No arrests; enquiries into the circumstances continue.”

Alli is a regular on the English national team and one of Tottenham’s most important young players, flashing elite talent across his five seasons spent with the team.

He had faced punishment from England’s Football Association earlier this year for a Snapchat video in which he mocked the coronavirus — which was still mostly located in China then — by zooming in on an Asian man than a bottle of hand sanitizer. He later apologized for the video.

Another Tottenham player had actually been robbed at knifepoint earlier this year, as defender Jan Vertonghen’s family faced a similar scary situation while he was away for the Champions League. Per the Guardian, four thieves in balaclavas raided the house but left the player’s wife and two children unharmed.
