A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State and a former House of Representatives aspirant in Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency, Hon. Babajide Fadairo aka Loyd, has faulted the claim by a chieftain of the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former Commissioner in Ogun State, Bashorun Muyiwa Oladipo (BMO) that Governor Dapo Abiodun was jittery over the candidature and endorsement of Barr. Biyi Otegbeye by the Awori Obas in the State.

Otegbeye is the Governorship Candidate of the ADC in Ogun State governorship for the 2023 elections.

Fadairo said in a statement released by by his media office, that Governor Dapo Abiodun is not in the business of stopping any Oba from blessing governorship candidates in the state, adding that the administration was not in any intimidation game.

Fadairo said further that traditional rulers are not partisans, and that what they do is to give their blessings, while they do not have power to influence election results.

He stressed that the victory of Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR in the coming election is assured through the commendable achievements of his administration in three years because there was a lockdown for one year due to COVID-19.

“Traditional Rulers should not be partisan, they just gave their blessings. So, it is not possible from the Governor to stop them from receiving the candidates of other political parties.

“Bashorun Oladipo should not say that Obas are playing lip service, they are just blessing the candidature of Prince Dapo Abiodun, they would do the same if Otegbeye goes to them.

“Prince Dapo Abiodun’s administration is not in intimidation game, he has never intimidated any Oba.

“What happens is the fact that his works speak for themselves which was why the Obas gave him their blessings and vouch for him. He has touched all parts of the state since 2019 that he got into office.

“As the Obas blessed him they would also give Otegbeye their blessings. It is the electorates that would decide at the end of the day.

“The Obas would not sit at the polling units and collate results. They pray for everybody and they would do the same for anyone that goes to them, let us go to the polls and test our popularity,” he said.

Fadairo urged the likes of Bashorun Muyiwa Oladipo not to heat up the polity, but to state issues as they are.

“On the alleged recent rejection of Otegbeye by 42 Yewa Traditional rulers from Ogun West axis, which Oladipo said was masterminded by the state government that he said prevented the council of Awori Obas, led by the Olota of Ota, Oba Adeyemi Abdulkabir Obalanlege from receiving Otegbeye, this is a figment of the imagination of Oladipo.

“Oladipo cannot back the claim with any fact and we challenge him to proof his assertion. Governor Dapo Abiodun is a democrat and he will not do anything to prevent others from trying their luck at the polls.

“When the chips are down, the people of the state know who love them. Governor Abiodun has been living up to expectations since he got to office in 2019 and he would not relent in his efforts of repositioning the state.

“The people know that he deserves a second term and they would gladly give him in 2023 so that he can continue with what he started few years ago,” he said.
