The self -professed spokesman of Islamist terrorists, Boko Haram, Ali Sanda Umar Konduga (a.ka Al-Zawahiri), who was released last week having served a three-year jail term without the option of fine, has been rearrested at the Maiduguri residence of Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume.

Vanguard reports that Konduga was identified, beaten and rearrested on Wednesday by residents and the Police after he sneaked into Ndume’s Maiduguri GRA residence for the third time in four days in a bid to ‘apologise’.

“He (Konduga) kept on coming to the Senator’s house purposely to apologize to the immediate family for indicting Ndume, who was charged for providing Konduga with politicians’ phone numbers and not disclosing information to authorities under Nigeria’s Terrorism Prevention Act”.

Ali Ndume, along with Konduga was in 2012 charged with violating Nigeria’s anti-terror act by collaborating with the Boko Haram sect to deliver messages and threats to the authorities.

The senator pleaded not guilty to the charges after being fingered by Konduga and has been out on bail while his investigation is on hold.

“When the Maigadi (Gate man) accosted Konduga that the senator was not in the house, requested to see Justice Aisha Ndume, one of the senator’s wife, but was asked to come back the following day,” the source added.

“As luck will have it, Konduga revisited the house on Wednesday at exactly 4pm, where he was identified by some Ndume’s close associates, who accompanied the senator to the Federal High Court, Abuja then.

“Policemen in charge of G.R.A police station were alerted and swooped into action leading to the re-arrest of Konduga. He is now in police custody, while Senator Ndume (out of the country for Hajj) has been informed”.

He was on Friday taken to the Federal Neuro-psychiatric Hospital, Maiduguri, to ascertain his mental health before being handed over to the authorities.

Senator Ndume, currently out of the country for Hajj, confirmed the rearrest of Konduga in his Maiduguri residence but declined to give further details.
