Ejila Awori community begs Governor Abiodun to stop foreign company’s plan from diverting Captain David’s road
The indigenes of Ejila Awori Community in Ogun State is seeking the state Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun intervention to stop the moves by the management of Ogun Guangdong Free Trade Zone from closing and divertimg the 4.5km Captain David’s road in Ejila Awori Land.
The Community Paramount Ruler, His Royal Majesty, Oba Engr Nurudeen Oluwadare Osoja, Onikogbo of Ikogbo, while addressing reporters about the ongoing plans by the Guangdong  management, said the community youths have informed the Executive Governor, Prince Abiodun through a letter dated June 15, 2020, about the notice received with respect to the plans by the Guangdong Management to divert and close the ever busy road that had been constructed decades ago.
The Kabiyesi said the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Work and Infrastructure, through a letter dated July 1, 2020, that the Guangdong Management has been cautioned not to divert or close down road, saying despite that, the Guangdong Management still continue threatening to divert the said road any moment from now.
The Royal Father said the ongoing construction of Ejila-Awori  road has been stopped by the Guangdong Management without and justification, saying this foreign company is frustrating the governor’s efforts to develop the Community.
He noted that this foreign organisation is constituting serious threat to law and order as the youths in the community have sworn to resist the forceful closure of the said Road.
The Royal Father, said as a law abiding and peace loving traditional ruler, he has continued to appeal to the youths not to take the law into their hands, thereby appealing to Governor Abiodun to quickly intervene in this matter to avoid any breach of the peace in the community and the state at large.
‘We shall continue to ensure that peace reigns supreme in the community as we are waiting the resumption of work on Ejila-Awori road,’ Kabiyesi Onikogbo, added.
The Kabiyesi presented copies of letter written by Chief Femi Falana (SAN) to Ogun State Government over the matter.
