Former Ogun State Commissioner for works and chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Hon Waliu Taiwo has described as half truth and  misrepresentation of facts, the information  going round the media space about the roles played by the deputy governor of Ogun State, Mrs Noimot Salako Oyedele in the events that led to the choice of a  desirable candidate for the Ado-Odo/Ota local government caretaker chairmanship seat.
News had gone round the state last week that the deputy governor had unilaterally annulled a mini election by leaders of the local government which she supervised where an aspirant, Hon Segun Ojolowo Ojuko won and announced that the name of the first runner up, Hon Wasiu Lawal would be submitted to the governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
This news magazine had reported that eight leaders- Sen Akin Odunsi, Sen Gbolahan Dada, Hon Waliu Taiwo, Hon Jimoh Ojugbele, Hon Tunji Akinosi, Hon Kazeem Salako, Alh Adegbenro and Hon Sheriff Yusuff voted for the candidates of their choices while the deputy governor supervised the election. The three aspirants were Hon Segun Ojolowo Ojuko, Hon Wasiu Lawall and Hon Kamorudeen Aina.
It was further reported by this magazine that Segun Ojolowo won with five votes while Wasiu Lawal came second with two votes. Kamorudeen Aina got just one vote. But the deputy governor allegedly prevailed on the leaders to dump Segun Ojolowo for Wasiu Lawal after one of the leaders, Sen Akin Odunsi rejected the outcome of the election.
However, in a chat with yemojanewsng.com few days ago, Hon Waliu Taiwo, who was among the leaders that took part in the process of selecting the desirable candidate absorbed deputy governor Noimot Salako Oyedele of any wrong doings.
“What was reported was not the true account of what transpired. The report was garnished to maligned the deputy governor. For instance, there was no time our sister, deputy governor Noimot Salako said she owns Ado-Odo/Ota local government and could do whatever she wants.

“Let me tell you, all the eight leaders seated at her house for the meeting hold her in high esteem. Alhaja Noimot Salako Oyedele is a God fearing and very respectful woman. She should not be painted in bad light over a decision all of us took. It is a collective responsibility” Hon Waliu Taiwo declared.
Reacting further, the experienced politician revealed that, “even as the only woman among us, and by the virtue of her position as deputy governor which automatically makes her the number one political office holder in this local government, this Ogun West Senatorial District  and number two in entire Ogun State, there is nothing she would demand from us that we will not oblige her. Its a honour she deserve from us
“The deputy governor is making us proud in this local government and across the state. Yes, it is true there was a small disagreement on that day, because the two gentlemen at the center of this issue, that is Segun Ojolowo and Wasiu Lawal are both eminently qualified and full blooded Ota-Awori sons……. We all put our heads together. It was a collective decision. But my appeal is that our people should wait for the final decision from the office of the governor and not disparage the deputy governor. Gov Dapo Abiodun has the final say”. Hon Waliu Taiwo Concluded.
