The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged the citizens and residents of the state to remain steadfast and single-minded in their quest for abundant life, and make 2018 a year of renewed hope for assured future.
In a new year message signed by the Ogun State Publicity Secretary of PDP, Alhaji Malik Ibitoye on behalf of the State Chairman, Hon Sikirulai Ogundele, the party commended the endurance of the masses of Ogun State in the face of governor Ibikunle Amosun’s spectacular disasters in 2017.
“The start of another year is a time of stock taking, a time to count our blessings and spare thoughts for those who have fallen on hard times occasioned by the calamitous adventure of the APC government of governor Amosun. We salute the courage of Ogun State people who are going through multiple unwarranted hardship inflicted on them by governor Amosun as we are optimistic that the chains of bondage will soon be broken off”. Ogundele enthused.
While lampooning the APC government for destroying the socio-economic life of citizens in the state, Hon Ogundele advised Ogun people to look forward to better days ahead.
“Our educational system has collapsed under Amosun. We were all witnesses to the peaceful protest engaged by the students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic in Abeokuta few weeks ago, who were demanding their right to quality education and how pugnacious governor Amosun violently suppressed their agitation with police brutality and hounded several students and other innocent citizens into detentions
“We also recall the fraudulent MITROS rice saga which could not be found in any open market in the entire state except on facebook and other social media platforms. But our good people of Ogun State cried out and exposed Amosun MITROS rice scam.
“Despite numerous disasters of Amosun and his APC gang, let us look forward, focused on a time when the people of Ogun State will collectively say enough of government of fraud and deceit.
“As the PDP wish all Ogun State citizens a very happy and prosperous new year, 2018 will be a year of renewed optimism, hope and pride in our beloved state. We must stand united to flush out the greedy gluttons of APC government in Ogun State.” The party chairman stated.
Hon Ogundele also took a swipe at the lame duck government of President Mohammadu Buhari for plunging the country into numerous crises.
“President Buhari and his impotent APC government promised change, and truly, Nigerians’ situation has changed for the worse. The country’s economy is failing under Buhari’s crippled government and over 4 million Nigerians have been taken out of work in 2017 alone; Fuel scarcity has hit the country again while the government is planning to increase the pump price of petrol to about 200 naira a litre!
“And to add salt on our national injuries, President Buhari, scandalously just appointed “dead” people into federal government parastatals as board members and chairmen, making our country a laughing stock in the comity of nations. This is the height of incompetence.
“However, we should resolve in 2018 to endure, not to allow the task ahead ovewhelm us, but tackle it head on, with the sole purpose of getting rid of the APC government from Aso Rock and install a reinvigorated PDP back to power to serve the nation well.” Hon Sikirulai Ogundele added.
