Member representing Epe Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Segun Olulade has described as nonsensical and unfounded, the protest by some youths in Abuja, demanding the expulsion of the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu from the party.

Earlier on Tuesday, a group of youths stormed the APC Secretariat in Abuja with various placards with inscriptions describing Tinubu’s “overbearing influence on the party”, as extreme, thereby demanding that the National Leader of the party be expelled “before he would destroy the party”.

Olulade in a statement issued on Wednesday, while reacting to the protest, stated that the march was the beginning of funeral procession for those who sent the youths who knew nothing about the subject they were told to protest about.

According to the lawmaker, “Tuesday’s protest marked the funeral of those masking to fight Asiwaju but who lacks the gut to come out openly for that cause”. Adding that he was not surprised in the least, “such protest is watered and lacks intelligent way of fighting.

“Even a blind man knows what Asiwaju is to the APC; he is like a nation and its national flag, so such call is baseless, unfounded, premature and nonsensical to common reasoning,” he said.

Olulade who pointed out that those behind the protest held by the jobless youths are cowards, explained that “when Bola Tinubu called for the resignation of the National Chairman of APC, Odigie Oyegun, he did not hide and neither rented a crowd to express his opinion.

“So any party man who is convinced enough about the purported call for Asiwaju’s expulsion should come out bold and say it rather than clandestinely using ‘Abuja professional protesters’ to express his positions,” the statement read in part.

He however, lamented the ingrate nature of most men within the political class, just as he stated that the role Asiwaju played in strengthening democracy and fighting for emancipation of the Nigerian populace who were hitherto clamped under the slave umbrella of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was known to the world.

“It is unfortunate that those behind the crazy dance are denying the present and future generations of the actualisation of the vision for change as conceived by Bola Tinubu.

“The power mongers are at work; the overzealous ambitious elements within the South West and the North who are teaming up for the dirty cause will sure bite fingers for their roles. As for Asiwaju, history has vindicated him and trust that the leader is unshaken,” Olulade added.
